Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions we get from customers.

Turkey FAQs

How do I order a turkey? +
Fill out our reservation form and submit it with a $40 deposit. Payment options include cash, check, or Venmo (@shelley-gray-3). Once you send in your order, make sure we confirm it — please reach out if you don't get a confirmation.
How much do your turkeys cost? +
Our pasture-raised turkeys are $8 per pound, based on the final dressed weight.
What sizes are available? +
Our turkeys typically range from about 10 to 28+ pounds. Smaller birds (under 14 lbs) are in very high demand and go quickly, so reserve early if you need a small turkey. We fill orders in the order they're received.
What breed are your turkeys? +
We raise broad breasted white turkeys. We do not raise heritage breeds — most customers prefer the broad breasted whites for how they dress out.
Are your turkeys fresh or frozen? +
Turkeys processed the weekend before Thanksgiving at our USDA processor are air-cooled and available fresh. Some turkeys are processed earlier in November and frozen — these are available for sale as well. Frozen turkeys are great for smoking and are available throughout the year while supplies last.
When are turkeys available? +
Fresh turkeys are processed at a USDA facility the weekend before Thanksgiving and are available for pickup by appointment during Thanksgiving week. Frozen turkeys are available throughout the year while supplies last — they're especially popular for smoking.
Can I get a turkey for Christmas? +
Yes! We typically have frozen turkeys available through December and beyond. If you want a specific size or prefer frozen, let us know — we can usually accommodate. Contact us to check current availability.
Do you sell live turkeys? +
No, all our turkeys are USDA processed before sale. We do not sell live birds.
Can you ship turkeys? +
No, we do not ship turkeys. All turkeys must be picked up at the farm by appointment.
When should I reserve my turkey? +
We start taking reservations in late summer/early fall. We recommend reserving as early as possible — especially for smaller birds, which are in very high demand.
Do you sell turkey parts like drumsticks? +
We occasionally have turkey drumsticks and other parts available. Contact us to ask about current availability.
Can I request a specific size? +
You can request a size range on the reservation form and we'll do our best to match it. However, we can't guarantee exact weights — nature doesn't work that way! We typically get within a pound or two of your request.
How are your turkeys raised? +
Our turkeys are pasture-raised with plenty of room to roam and forage outdoors. They're supplemented with locally sourced grain and raised without antibiotics or hormones. All birds are processed at a USDA-inspected facility.

CSA FAQs

When do CSA sign-ups open? +
We start accepting CSA members in March each year. The season typically starts in June, depending on weather. Check our website or contact us to get on the mailing list.
Can I skip weeks if I'm on vacation? +
Yes! If you need to skip a week (for vacation, etc.), those weeks get added to the end of your season. Just let us know in advance.
Can I customize the share percentages? +
The CSA percentages (50% meat, 30% vegetables, 20% eggs & special items) are a general guideline, not a rigid formula. Some weeks your share will be well over the average value, and some weeks a little less — it all balances out over the course of the season.
How much meat is in a weekly share? +
We aim for at least two types of meat per week. About $54 of each share's value goes toward pasture-raised meats including chicken, beef, and pork. The exact cuts and quantities vary week to week.
Do you offer a vegetarian CSA option? +
We have offered a vegetarian option in the past. Contact us to ask about availability for the current season.
Can I buy meat and produce without joining the CSA? +
Most of our meat and produce goes to CSA members, but we usually have some items available. Eggs are available 24/7 at our eggmobile. Outside of CSA season, contact us to see what's available.
Do you offer delivery? +
We offer home delivery for an additional $10 per week, subject to availability. Delivery availability is confirmed by April 10 each year. Otherwise, pickup is on Thursdays.
Can I buy a quarter or half cow? +
No, we don't currently sell beef in bulk quantities. Our meats are raised for and distributed through our CSA shares.
